Erectile dysfunction (ED) is an extremely common condition affecting millions of men. Dr. Uhr has a special interest in treating men with ED and has dedicated a large portion of his practice to these patients. What is Erectile dysfunction and how is it treated?
Erectile dysfunction is the inability to get or keep an erection. It’s treated with lifestyle changes, medications, therapy, or medical procedures.
What are Penile implants and how do they work?
Penile implants are medical devices surgically placed inside the penis to help men with erectile dysfunction (ED) achieve an erection. They are typically recommended when other treatments, like medications or injections, have not been successful. There are two main types: inflatable and malleable. Inflatable implants allow the user to control when and how long they have an erection, while malleable implants keep the penis firm but bendable. Both options restore sexual function
About Dr. Uhr
Alex Uhr is a Philadelphia native. He completed his medical school training and Urologic Surgery residency at Jefferson. He continues to serve the Philly community as a board certified Urologist, currently practicing in Northeast Philadelphia. He is currently accepting new patients.
Dr. Uhr provides a wide range of urologic care with special interests in erectile dysfunction, prosthetic placement including penile implants, robotic and minimally invasive surgery, prostate and kidney cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and male incontinence. He prides himself on offering all of the leading and cutting edge technologies to his patients to ensure excellent outcomes.
In addition to practice, Dr. Uhr has contributed to medical research extensively over his career. He has published many abstracts and journal articles, contributed to medical textbooks, lectured on various subjects, and presented at conferences around the country.
Dr. Uhr stays active in the medical community and is a member of the American Urologic Association, American Board of Urology, and Society of Urologic Prosthetic surgeons
