Prostate Cancer
Prostate Cancer
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men. The prostate is an organ only in men that sits below the bladder. It is part of the reproduction system. It may also affect the way men urinate. Cancer occurs when there is abnormal cell growth within the prostate. It may or may not cause symptoms. Symptoms, if present, may include blood in urine, difficulty urinating, pain in pelvis or bones, and weight loss.
All men should undergo screening for prostate cancer. This usually involves blood work, examination, and possibly other diagnostic studies.
If cancer is found, there are many potential treatment options that you may be a candidate for. These may include surveillance, radiation, hormone therapy, surgery, or other techniques. In general, this tends to be a treatable and curable cancer. Dr. Uhr has many years of training and experience in this field and offers multiple treatments for prostate cancer including minimally invasive robotic surgery to remove the prostate.
Please schedule an appointment with Dr. Uhr to discuss cancer screening or, if necessary, treatments.
